BIM: Arts for the 21st Century (scroll down to publications) is published twice annually by the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados, in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister, Government of Barbados.
BIM accepts submissions that focus on literary, artistic and other cultural expressions within the Caribbean and its diaspora. Short stories, poetry and critical reviews of high quality are particularly welcome.
Bim: Arts for the 21st Century solicits submissions from Caribbean writers (in and out of the Diaspora) and/or submissions about Caribbean writings.
The inaugural edition (Nov 2007) featured Barbadian literary stalwart George Lamming and the 2nd, women writers of the Caribbean (June 2008).
Manuscripts should be forwarded in double-spaced format, preferably with an accompanying electronic text file in Microsoft Word.
Unsolicited materials will not be returned without a self-addressed appropriately stamped envelope.
Prospective submissions must be no longer than 5,000 words.

**NB The Editors advised that the 2nd issue due out in November 2010 will focus on celebrated Barbadian griot Kamau Brathwaite, to commemorate his 80th birthday. Deadline will be the end of August.
Seawoman's Caribbean Writing 
When is the deadline for submission to Bim? I write both traditional and modern poetry. Would like to forward some of my poems for Bim Magazine. I know that Errol Barrow day is a few days away. In fact a day after the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of USA. I have written poems about Errol Barrow. I’m happy to share my poems with you. Please come by to my website. My apologies for delay in response! Somehow your post was missed until today!
I really want to say thanks for visiting and commenting at Seawoman’s Caribbean Writing Opps. There are updates I’m sure you’ll find of interest. Don’t forget to use the search box too.
RE: Entering your work for BIM
They do publish a few times a year so you can check back here or contact them directly for the next deadline/theme. I also hope you prepare for NIFCA which is a great way to grow and build writing credits. My experience tells me that these avenues do appreciate a writer making the most of older forms as well attention to crafting, attention to detail and freshness.
Be advised that prestigious competitions and anthologies like these often require that the work is unpublished. DO NOT send them work you have included on the Internet because that counts as published work!
