International Copyright Registration Service

Finally! Thanks to the Copyright Protection Service now you CAN officially register the copyright of your works - online. This applies to writers, photographers, visual and graphic artists and musicians.

When you visit the site, read the requirements and FAQs carefully.

NB. There IS a fee, so it makes more sense to copyright a body of work or completed work. It doesn’t have to been published either.  See below:

  • 4  Year Registration - This option includes a one-off administration charge of US$45
  • 8  Year Registration - This option includes a one-off administration charge of US$80
  • 12 Year Registration -This option includes a one-off administration charge of US$110
  • 15 Year Registration - This option includes a one-off administration charge of US$125

Charge For Your Writing & Editing Services

Charging for Writing

This is NOT an exact science but beyond research, I highly recommend touching base with other writers from your community.  Think about your expenses, rights you will be selling and, what you bring to the table as far as experience and the amount of research you will be doing.

These posts will prove to be useful for those travelling along their freelance writing journey:

Susan Yearwood Literary Agency

Susan Yearwood is a professional literary agent from London, England with Bajan roots making worldwide connections.  She is open, warm and utterly professional.  Above everything, she seeks quality.

The writers of the VOICES: Barbados Writers’ Collective had the distinct pleasure of meeting her at our meeting on Friday, August 31st 2007.  If you missed her, you missed an excellent and honest presentation that gave us what we need more than anything: hope.
